Plant and Tree Healthcare Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Plant Healthcare Technician to join our Amarillo-based team. This dual-role position combines technical fieldwork with sales and customer service, focused on delivering top-tier plant healthcare solutions. You’ll work directly with residential and commercial clients to diagnose, recommend, and apply treatments that promote the long-term health of trees, shrubs, and turf.

What You'll Do

Sales & Client Relations (40-50%): 

  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of clients in a defined Amarillo territory 

  • Conduct on-site assessments to identify tree/shrub health issues (pest, disease, nutrient deficiencies, etc.) 

  • Propose tailored treatment programs to residential and commercial clients 

  • Prepare and deliver quotes, service plans, and follow-ups 

  • Upsell additional services and build long-term client relationships 

  • Meet or exceed monthly/quarterly sales targets (commission eligible) 

Applicator Duties (50-60%): 

  • Safely and effectively apply pesticides, fertilizers, and other tree/plant healthcare treatments (IPM methods prioritized) 

  • Operate equipment such as spray rigs, injection tools, and hand-held applicators 

  • Monitor treatment outcomes and adjust programs as needed 

  • Maintain accurate service records in compliance with state regulations 

  • Follow all safety protocols and label instructions

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Valid Texas Applicator’s License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire 

  • 1+ year experience in horticulture, arboriculture, plant health care, landscaping, or a related field 

  • Clean driving record and valid driver's license 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage time and territory independently 

Preferred: 

  • Knowledge of West Texas native and ornamental plants 

  • ISA Certified Arborist or equivalent certification a plus 

  • Previous outside sales experience (especially in green industry) 

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a bonus

Compensation

  • Base Salary: Starting at $40,000–$50,000 (based on experience)

  • Commission: Performance-based commission on new sales and renewals

  • Bonus Opportunities: Seasonal or performance bonuses
